Who We Are
Sunup Livonia is a collective of four anti-racist projects including Livonia Citizens Caring About Black Lives, Livonia Equity and Anti-Racism Network (L.E.A.R.N), Impact, and Livonia Citizens for Progress. We are a diverse and inclusive group of neighbors, friends, activists, students, teachers, parents, professionals, volunteers, community leaders, and more. Equity, justice, and anti-racism are at the heart of all that we do.
What We Do
We elevate the voices of Black people, Brown people, Indigenous people, and People of Color. We elevate the voices of the LGBTQ+ community. We elevate the voices of people with disabilities. We defend groups subjected to violence, hate, oppression, or marginalization. We open minds and open hearts. We connect people to resources and assistance. We organize, we fund, we support. We educate and we learn together. We discuss, we challenge, we push for change. We make Livonia a better place.
How We Do It
Through Livonia Citizens Caring About Black Lives, we create a safe online community for people to share their pain and challenges yet also leave room for people to learn and question. We seek solutions, share information, and keep the community informed on the latest anti-racism efforts in the city and beyond. Within L.E.A.R.N., we provide education. Members have access to carefully curated content to progress their anti-racism journey. L.E.A.R.N. organizes community service projects and events like our Brake Light Repair Clinic and our Diversity Toy Drive. Impact Livonia allows us to take individual giving to the next level. By pooling our resources, we can make a huge difference in local causes. And with the Livonia Citizens for Progress PAC, we ensure our voices and our issues are represented where it counts: local elections.
Our Work
Anti-racism is about action - it's all about what you do. Sunup Livonia elevates the voices and experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color through protests, presence, public demonstrations, and storytelling.
